Introduction 

Can you arrive at your optimum potential by counting down from 5 to o? That what Mel Robbins thinks. As one of the most booked speakers and the most booked female speaker in 2016 who has not gotten over her anxiety of public speaking but used it to her advantage
She starts the book with her life story as she was depressed, anxious and almost bankrupt where suddenly it dawned on her to jump out of bed, counting down from 5 to 0 like a rocket, and it worked… 

Summary

What is the rule

The moment you have an instinct to act upon a goal and you find your brain hesitating, you count down from 5 to 0,
5 4 3 2 1 and you launch for action, if u don't do that your brain may kill your initiative.

Why the rule works:

It's a form of metacognition to beat your brain to accomplish your goal.
The 5 serving activates prefrontal cortex to override your feelings.

Categories the 5 Seconds may help with

·       Change of behavior, establish new habit or stop a bad one, self-control and better relationship
·       Find courage, build confidence, read more and be more creative
·       Control your mind and stop negative thoughts.
o   Catch your brain when drifting to worries especially during joyful situations.
o   Anxiety is when worrying spirals out of control.
o   Stop anxiety and worrying through counting and reframing. For example, labelling anxiety as being creative.
o   When having fearful thoughts, imagine positive outcomes in 5 seconds.

Recommendation to increase Productivity

·       You need Focus to master productivity.
·       Remove distractions.
·       Own your morning.
o   Create morning routine that makes you feel like a million dollar.
o   Peak productivity, best time for the brain is 2-3 hours in morning after you wake up.
o   Getup and never ever hit snooze button.
o   Sleep cycles are 90 to 110 mins long.
o   Don’t put your Alarm or phone in your bedroom.
o   Take cold shower.
o   Write down 2 or 3 things important for the day and why they are important.
o   Start planning your day before checking emails or phone.
o   Most productive CEO work from home before going to office.
·       Plan your quit time.

·       It's not the big stuff that defines your life it's the little stuff.
·       You are not procrastinator you have habit to procrastinate, you are not warrior you have habit to worry.
·       Every phase of your life and career requires a different you.
·       To modify a habit just replace it with another one.
